MQTT Relays & Input Modules
ControlByWeb relays allow you to communicate via MQTT and Sparkplug B to control relays and capture data at the edge. They offer a built-in browser-based UI with event driven (conditional) or scheduled logic. Devices can be programmed both with or without code. ControlByWeb MQTT relays also feature data logging, email notifications, P2P communication, and optional cloud compatibility. See our full list of features here.

MQTT Relays & Data Loggers
Powerful & Flexible Relays & Data Loggers
ControlByWeb offers a range of flexible and feature-rich MQTT controllers. These out-of-the-box features reduce set-up complexity, allowing you to deploy quickly saving you time and money.

Built-In Firmware
ControlByWeb controllers feature a lightweight, easy-to-use interface. Building custom logic is as easy as navigating drop-down menus.

Data Logging
Save edge data logs to a separate computer or server. Program your MQTT controller to send log data via email or FTP.

Peer-to-Peer Networking
P2P networking is available between ControlByWeb relays, allowing for shared I/O and remote inputs and relay control.

Inherently Secure
ControlByWeb devices have no native OS or file system, making them less prone to vulnerabilities.

Expansive Communication Protocols
ControlByWeb controllers support MQTT, Open REST API, SNMP, Modbus TCP/IP.

ControlByWeb Cloud
400 Series devices and WiFi devices can utilize the ControlByWeb Cloud to remotely monitor and manage multiple locations.

“Some of these devices that aren’t [ControlByWeb] devices have issues connecting with [Ignition], but your devices are green all across the board.” ‐ Tarka Ellips
Application Spotlight: SCADA Integration and Data Acquisition for DJ Engineering
D-J Engineering, a long-time ControlByWeb™ customer, has scaled its operations across three campuses and over 300 employees, leading to more complex HVAC and I/O automation needs. Spearheading these initiatives is Technical Analyst Tarka Ellips, who has expanded the company’s use of Ignition SCADA software in combination with ControlByWeb controllers and sensors. By integrating modules like the X-400™, X-405™, X-410™, and X-420™, D-J Engineering has successfully implemented programmable, scalable automation across applications such as AC unit control, water jet monitoring, and environmental management in sensitive areas like the mylar engineering print room.
Tarka’s innovation builds on the foundational work of Technical Services Director Buddy Willis, who initially sought Power-over-Ethernet and data-logging capabilities in a central controller. The flexibility of ControlByWeb’s Modbus RTU-based relays and onboard logic has allowed seamless integration with Ignition, overcoming compatibility issues seen with other devices. Data is routed through MODBUS maps and logged into an SQL server, enabling real-time monitoring, alarms, and detailed reporting. This ease of use, combined with strong technical support, has made ControlByWeb a go-to solution for D-J’s expanding needs.
Looking ahead, D-J Engineering plans to deepen its integration of ControlByWeb technology, with ambitions to control over 100 AC units, monitor coolant and tank levels using ultrasonic sensors, and expand into applications like freezer monitoring, lighting, garage doors, and airflow management. The consistent reliability of the hardware and the stellar support from ControlByWeb, especially the collaborative guidance from Sales Engineer Eric Bennett, has fostered confidence and creativity in deploying I/O solutions across increasingly diverse use cases.
