HOW IT WORKS
1. Define Your ‘I/O Locations’
An I/O Location is a single, contained physical area within an industrial environment where a collection of sensors, actuators, and other control points can be practically wired back to one central ControlByWeb device.
The primary consideration is the physical proximity and wiring feasibility for these components. If a group of industrial assets (e.g., pumps, valves, temperature sensors) are too geographically spread out to be wired to the same point, they define separate I/O Locations.
A simpler way to think about it is like a local junction box or control cabinet for machinery. For more information, check out the example below:
Each ‘I/O Location’ will require their own dedicated ControlByWeb device.

2. Identify Which Types of I/O You Need For Each I/O Location’
3. Use the Tool Above: Define Inputs/Outputs at Each ‘I/O Location’
After you have selected the I/O and features you require at each I/O Location. You can add multiple I/O Locations below. Click “Find Recommendations” at the bottom of the I/O Locations.
